Lockjaw: Welcome, Lieutenant Marshall. At ease. I was advised to have the debrief over a holo-conference, but I can afford a small risk to my health now. It would seem you have a knack for cheating death.
Jake: To be honest, sir, I haven't been in a combat mission where my objectives didn't change. My mentor told me that people who can react survive.
Lockjaw: Given this is only your second battle, I'd say Colonel Garret taught you well. Everything about this war is going sideways. The drogahri will feel the loss of two of their interdictors in this sector, though.
Jake: Well, I have a great team, sir.
Lockjaw: That is part of why I've called you here. We were able to recover the flight recorder reel from your last mission. I'm glad to see it proves your story, and it's also helped me to make a decision. You will be replacing Lt. Mattrick as wing leader of your squadron.
Jake: Sir! With all due respect, Lt. Mattrick has seniority over me, and he's more experienced. He deserves another chance, sir.
